Maximize Your Potential at CMG2002

CMG2002 Keynote Speaker

Gary Bloom
Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer
VERITAS Software Corporation

Architecting the Future of Storage

Business demands for accessibility and availability of digital information are ever increasing. At the same time, the complexity associated with managing a highly distributed storage model is growing. These factors are driving the rapid convergence of networking and storage and the need for simplified and centralized storage management.

In his keynote presentation, Gary Bloom will discuss why storage is becoming increasingly strategic to the overall IT infrastructure and how the right storage architecture can deliver seamless interoperability across diverse topologies, operating systems, applications and databases.

As chairman, president and CEO of VERITAS Software, Gary Bloom oversees all corporate and board functions and directs the Company to ensure the attainment of sales and profit goals and maximum return on invested capital. He is responsible for the formulation of current and long-range plans and objectives and represents the organization in relations with its customers and the business and non-business communities.

Gary was named chief executive officer, president, and a member of the VERITAS Software board of directors in November of 2000. In January 2002, he was also named chairman of the board. He joined VERITAS from Oracle, where he most recently served as executive vice president. During his fourteen-year career at Oracle, Gary led Oracle's core database business and the execution of Oracle's Internet and e-business vision. Gary also led Oracle's worldwide marketing, support, education and alliance organizations and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, global information technology, and the Oracle Venture Fund. Before joining Oracle in 1986, Gary held various technical positions at both Chevron Corporation and IBM Corporation.

Gary earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo, where he currently serves on the President's Cabinet. Gary also serves on the board of directors of Globespan Virata.
