IT EXPERTS WHO PLAN, MANAGE WORLD’S LARGEST DATA CENTERS
ADD ENTERPRISE LINUX, WINDOWS TO ANNUAL CONFERENCE

TURNERSVILLE, NJ., Oct. 5, 2004 - The IT professionals who plan, measure and manage the world’s largest data centers, global business networks, government data warehouses, compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other traditionally mainframe-based applications built to crunch petabytes of data - one petabyte is equal to 1,000 terabytes -- are reaching beyond conventional mainframe operating systems to embrace enterprise-class Linux and Microsoft Windows solutions.

This year’s 30th international meeting of the Computer Measurement Group (CMG) adds a "conference within a conference" that proposes that enterprise Linux and Windows are ready for serious IT performance discussions. The conference takes place in Las Vegas, December 5-10.

CMG members are experts at evaluating and deploying mainframe-based computer systems optimized for cost and performance. Members include professional performance management personnel from the largest corporations in the world. Originally focused on performance evaluation and tuning for IBM mainframes, CMG has evolved and diversified as practitioners were challenged by new computing architectures.

The annual conference features practitioners exchanging real-world examples of what went right and wrong in mission-critical deployments, information, ideas and techniques. Marc Fleury, CEO of JBoss, is a featured speaker, along with chief technicians from major software and hardware vendors, including Unisys, IBM, Sun, Fujitsu, Microsoft, EMC, Veritas, BMC, SAS and others.

The conference within a conference will feature:

  • Practitioners from companies that demonstrate technical leadership, such as Bank of America, Amazon.com, Siemens Medical Solutions, Safeway, Philadelphia Stock Exchange, and others who will present their experiences and suggestions.

  • Presentations by vendors and IT performance / capacity management practitioners will range over performance aspects and experiences including subjects such as Server Consolidation, Virtualization, SAN Management, Storage Subsystems, Grid and Utility Computing, Java, J2EE, .NET, wireless, and Open Source.

The Computer Measurement Group (www.cmg.org ) is a not for profit, worldwide organization of data processing professionals committed to the measurement and management of computer systems.
