Computer Measurement Group Announces A.A. Michelson Award

Winner to be Recognized at 33rd Annual CMG’07, December 2 -7 in San Diego, CA

TURNERSVILLE, NJ, August 6, 2007 – The Computer Measurement Group (CMG), the IT professionals responsible for planning, measuring and managing the world’s largest IT infrastructures, is currently in the nomination process for the A.A Michelson Award which recognizes an exceptional individual who has made significant contributions over their entire professional career to the measurement and management of computer systems.

In its 33rd year, the award is named after the famous American physicist, Albert Abraham Michelson, known for his technical accomplishments in measuring the speed of light, as well as for his role as a teacher who truly inspired others. CMG presents this lifetime achievement award annually to a single individual who personifies the same combination of technical excellence and professional contributions to the discipline of computer performance.

The winner of the 2007 A.A. Michelson Award will be honored at CMG’07 taking place from December 2 -7 in San Diego, CA at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. The Michelson Award winner’s acceptance speech is traditionally the highlight of the official Monday evening Opening Session that inaugurates the annual Conference. In addition, the winner is profiled in a special edition of MeasureIT, a monthly electronic publication published by CMG with a readership of 10,000 which provides a dynamic forum for members to contribute their experiences and case studies and share with the CMG community.

"The AA Michelson award recognizes an individual for a lifetime of achievement in the field of computer measurement and performance evaluation," said Mark Friedman, this year’s chairman of the CMG Michelson committee and himself a past award winner. "The winner is elected by past A.A. Michelson Award winners. It is a definitely an honor to be recognized as a peer by this distinguished group of individuals."
